TIGER for Stratified Sampling

TIGER for Stratified Sampling has been developed for use in 20 states.  Although each state has some unique forest inventory characteristics that are reflected in the version developed for the state, the program looks and feels essentially the same for each state.

To help understand what you will see, you need to know that TIGER for Stratified Sampling handles two types of inventory data: traditional and 100%.  In the traditional, a series of plots (or points) are established across a woodlot, and the trees on each plot are measured.  A 100% inventory is one in which all trees meeting some user-defined criteria, such as a tree to be removed in a thinning, are measured.  TIGER will not process the two types of inventory together.  Where both types of inventories were done among compartments within a woodland, inventory files for both types can be opened for the same woodland but will not be processed together.

TIGER for Stratified Sampling accepts a maximum of 15 compartments.  The data for each compartment must be entered into TIGER WC, so all the restriction on plot type and tree measurements that apply to TIGER WC apply to TIGER for Stratified Sampling.

A manual has been prepared for the program and a quick-read version also.  They are available where the installer is located.  There is one version of both manuals.  They are the same for all states.

You will need to buy TIGER for Woodlands and Compartments to create the data files that the Stratified Sampling program reads.
