TIGER for Estimating Basis

The program uses data sets created by TIGER for Woodlands and Compartments to estimate the value of the trees in the sample for up to 20 years before the inventory was done. Basis in forestry is the value of the trees on a property at the time of purchase. The program uses USFS growth models to grow the trees in the data set backwards in time to the year the property was purchased. It uses the estimated sizes of the trees and user supplied estimates of the value of such trees to estimate the total value of the trees on the property at the time of purchase.
