TIGER programs to process basic inventory data and more

TIGER, which stands for TImber, Growth, and Economic Review,  programs can be used by professional foresters and motivated non-foresters to help manage woodlands in the midwestern and northeastern United States for the following states: CT, DE, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, WV, VT, WI.

There are three TIGER programs.  The first program, TIGER for Woodlands and Compartments (TIGER WC), is used for entering your inventory data which TIGER WC uses to estimate average volume and value per acre by species for the woodland or compartment that was sampled.  It also uses USFS growth models to estimate the growth of the trees for 20 years and estimates the future volume and value of the woodland or compartment.  It also does various economic analyses of the results.  The second program, TIGER for Stratified Sampling, uses data sets created by TIGER WC for multiple inventories and aggregates the data sets to estimate overall volume and value per acre, and using the USFS growth models used by TIGER WC, it estimates the future volume and value. The third program, TIGER for Estimating Basis, also uses data sets created by TIGER WC to estimate the basis of a woodland (value of the trees in the woodland at the time of purchase) based on growing the trees measured in an inventory back in time to the year that the woodland was purchased using growth models developed by the USFS.

Each of the three programs can be easily changed to run in any of the 20 states, and the user can use it for inventory data from as many states as desired.
